Elm and Maple Pruning Deal for Street Trees

Effective from 15 November through 15 March until 2010

Save Our Elms (SOE) has arranged a volume purchase agreement for

sanitation and  code compliance pruning for mature elms and maples.

Eastmoreland property owners have a great opportunity because Eastmoreland is an affiliate of SOE.

Treecology, the company under contract for this SOE project, has agreed to prune mature trees for SOE affiliates at a reduced rate.  The arborist will bundle pruning lists by area to save on transportation costs.

For mature trees not under cables, or power or phone lines the special bulk sanitation and code compliance pruning rates are as follows for different diameters at chest height:

          Under 30”                       $420.00

          Between 30 and 36         $550.00

          Between 37 and 42”         $700.00

          Over 42”                         $800.00

For mature trees under cables, or power or phone lines, or elms requiring additional pruning, the property owner must negotiate a rate on a case-by-case basis.   SOE has negotiated a rate of $70.00 per hour with Treecology for trees that require additional services beyond the bulk rates listed above.

For established immature elms, Treecology has agreed to charge $70.00 per hour.  If you have one of the 93 Homestead elms that are about 10 years old, now is the optimum time to prune them to help them achieve an optimum form at maturity.  Now is the time to prune out conflicting limbs and correct weak branch attachments.  Treecology and Dave Kaplan from Save Our Elms have looked at a few of these trees and felt they would require a case-by-case estimate.
