Has anyone else had something taken from your porch recently? In over twenty years, we have never had a package taken from our porch (which is mostly enclosed). On 1/24, UPS left a package and it was not there on 1/26 when we returned home. The UPS driver left it totally out of view from the street and sidewalk. That means someone walked up onto our porch with the intention of . . . Hopefully this was an isolated incident, but now UPS will no leave a package unless we are home.

As we continue the battle to keep Eastmoreland free of cell towers (we are
waiting to hear if the applications have been filed yet) the city officials who will
make the decision want to know neighborhood sentiment on the issue. The
new lawn signs include the website, and were paid for by one of your neighbors. Your $4.00
donation will cover costs, and includes free home delivery! Please call 503-775-0146 if you want
one of the new signs. Or, you can pick one up at 3678 S.E. Ogden (just north of Knapp).
Let's tell T-Mobile...and city officials....that turning utility poles into cell towers without our
permission is a bad idea! Kimberly Koehler, ENA Board member

So-called city leaf pick-up yesterday left a great deal to be desired. In front of my house is a big gutter that takes run-off from 34th to Reed College Pl. and from over half way down the blk. on Reed College Pl. Yet the city did not sweep that area, so today it is backed up. What are we paying for? Other areas in Eastmoreland were also sloppily swept. Let's call this to the attention of the city now.

For those of us concerned about how the city has been acting - with respect to the T-Mobile towers or more generally - I'm hosting mayoral candidate Jefferson Smith at my house this week, and I'd love for you to come, tell him what you think, and hear his response.
The details:
Wednesday, November 9, from 7-9 pm
3908 SE Carlton St.
Light food and drink served.
On the web here and on facebook here.
Hope to see you there!

Here are a few haiku I have written about leaf blowers.
I invite my neighbors to do the same!!
1) Why not try a rake?
The exercise will help you.
Wet leaves are waiting.
2) Leafy orchestra,
Conductor with a backpack,
Sidewalk symphony.
3) Pollution. Racket.
Remember when yard work was
Neighborly? Quiet?
